Our Transformational Perinatal Coaching Program opens for enrollment three times a year—in Fall, Winter, and Spring—offering immediate access to the online modules from the moment you join.
From the start, you’ll be welcomed through small, intimate onboarding sessions that support a smooth transition into the program and connect you to our dynamic, worldwide community of birth professionals.


PHASE 1: Foundations Phase (Immediate Access)

3 online modules

These foundational teachings are designed to prepare you for deeper learning and set the stage for your growth as a transformational perinatal coach.

Module 01

Intro to Birth Support

  • The history of birth support from ancient times to the  present
  • Different agents in birth support throughout history
  • Views and approaches to pregnancy, birth, and the postpartum period
  • Pain, fear, and the medicalization of birth
  • Traditional care, authoritative knowledge, and the birth giver as an expert in their life

Module 02

Intro to Transformational Coaching

  • The Origins of the coaching profession
  • The principles and basic terminology of the coaching practice
  • Core competencies of coaching
  • The coaching relationships – a client-centered partnership
  • The differences between coaching and therapy
  • The differences between coaching and teaching
  • The role of the perinatal coach

Module 03

Structure and Strategies of Transformational Coaching

  • The GROW coaching model
  • The Wheel of Bringing Life
  • The structure of the coaching process as a whole and each coaching session
  • The domains of perinatal coaching
  • Clarifying tangible and measurable goals.
  • Methods for establishing and maintaining rapport – mirroring and matching
  • Conducting the coaching conversation: pacing and leading


PHASE 2: Mastery Phase (12 Weeks)

Weekly live sessions + 4 online modules

Prenatal Coaching

  • Coaching throughout the challenges and dilemmas relating to the client’s pregnancy
  • Coaching for optimal birth experience
  • Identifying motivation, values, and desires
  • Identifying and resolving limiting beliefs
  • Writing the birth plan as as coaching conversation
  • Method for empowering self-advocacy
  • Facilitating alignment and ownership of the birth process

Module 05

Overcoming the fear of labor pain and other fears

  • Understanding the fear mechanism and collective awareness
  • The Fear-Tension-Pain syndrome leading to Failure-To-Progress
  • Coaching methods for reframing labor pain
  • The Context coaching exercise
  • From fear reaction to confident creation coaching exercise
  • Writing and reciting an affirmation
  • Coaching through the dilemma of taking an epidural
  • Practicing labor support techniques and comfort measures

Module 06

Coaching through Medical Conditions and Impositions

  • Standardization vs. individualization of care
  • Coaching when a medical condition or imposition occurs
  • The Authoritative Knowledge coaching pyramid
  • Using coaching strategies to improve the relationships with medical caregivers
  • Client-centered vs. Evidence-based advocacy
  • The PAL coaching exercise for flexibility and acceptance

Module 07

Postpartum Coaching

  • Coaching throughout common postpartum challenges
  • The Wheel of Life after Childbirth coaching exercise
  • Facilitating a coherent memory of the recent birth and acceptance if needed
  • Evaluating the parents’ coping level
  • How to coach the birth giver who suffers from postpartum depression

PHASE 3: Certification Track (Begins After the 12-Week Cohort; Must Be Completed Within One Year of Registration)

Weekly live practice sessions + 1 online module

Synthesize and apply everything you’ve learned throughout the program and ceomplete your certification requirements

Module 08

Launching Your Perinatal Coaching Practice

  • Structuring the coaching session and coaching series
  • Tracking clients’ progress
  • Following up on coaching sessions
  • Virtual platforms
  • Scheduling platforms
  • Marketing strategies and AI marketing
  • Contracts and chargrges

Certification Requirements:

  • Complete the self-study of all online lessons (self-paced).
  • Attend at least 6 months of live Zoom sessions.
  • Submit a 20-Day Action Plan.
  • Pass the final exam (score of 70% or higher).
  • Have at least one year of experience in birth support (doula, educator, yoga instructor, nurse, midwife, etc.) OR complete a list of prerequisite courses if new to the field.
  • Sign the Birth Coach Method Code of Ethics and Scope of Practice Agreement.
  • Submit your application and a $150 certification processing fee, along with a directory listing.
