Transformational Birth Support Coaching Year-long Program Details

The Birth Support Coaching program consists of 8 online recorded modules and a year-long Live Zoom meeting accruing weekly on Wednesdays, from 10:30 am to  11:30 am Pacific. Each of the online modules includes videos created especially for the program, reading materials, and additional audiovisual content. Our students receive reminders and handouts a day before the meeting and a follow-up email after. The follow-up emails include your suggested weekly practice and a replay of the live session.

In addition to the recorded modules, we provide our students with the following  study materials:

  • The program’s textbook: The Art of Coaching for Childbirth, was written and published by Neri Life-Choma and is the program’s textbook.
  • The Program’s success workbook: This 45 pages printable book includes all slide decks we use in our live Zoom sessions and the coaching exercises you’ll be using to coach your future birth clients.
  • Students’ success map: This map describes the mastery levels you’ll be gaining throughout the year and helps you track your progress.
  • Handouts with coaching exercises we continue to develop.

Weekly Live Sessions: 

You’ll receive a Zoom invite to attend the weekly sessions upon registration. You’ll join our global community of passion-driven birth and postpartum support professionals who come together for an hour weekly to learn the principles and strategies of transformational birth and postpartum coaching. These are conversational coaching skills and exercises we develop to help you make a difference in your clients’ lives throughout their childbearing journey.

Here is the online modules outline:

Module 1: Childbirth support in review

In this lesson, I’ll review the history of childbirth support from ancient times to the present. The different perspectives on pregnancy and birth and the various agents that have been taking care of birthing women.

 

Module 2: Introduction to transformational coaching

In this lesson, I’ll teach you the origins and core principles of the coaching profession. You’ll also learn the core competencies of the coaching practice, the coach’s role, and the benefits of integrating coaching into the field of pregnancy and birth support. 

Module 3: The structure and strategies of transformational coaching

This lesson begins by teaching you a few cool NLP techniques to establish rapport with your clients. Once you are in rapport, you can use the GROW model of coaching and coach your expectant clients toward achieving their desired experience.

Module 4: Prenatal coaching: The foundation of client-centered birth support

This lesson provides you with coaching questions and strategies to conduct possible coaching conversations related to your client’s pregnancy and birth. You will learn to implement the GROW process of coaching into birth support and facilitate alignment and accountability.

Module 5: Coaching for coping with labor pain and the fear of it

Fear-Tension- Pain leads to Failure-To- Progress in childbirth. In this lesson, you will learn how to prenatally coach your clients, leading them to adopt a better perspective on labor pain, and allowing them to conduct themselves better during birth. and impositions.

Module 6: Coaching through medical conditions and impositions

Coaching is the pathway to clients’ self-advocacy when medical conditions or impositions occur. In this lesson, you’ll learn how to resolve the advocacy dilemma. In order to facilitate a healthy and positive journey, we will learn how to improve the relationships among medical caregivers and support figures.

Module 7: Coaching for a healthy closure in early postpartum

In this lesson, you will learn to conduct the postpartum visit to facilitate a healthy closure of the pregnancy and birth journey and assess the mom’s coping and adjustment levels. You’ll also learn how to coach the mother who suffers from postpartum depression in addition to her being treated by a medical caregiver.

 

Module 8: Establishing your birth support coaching practice

This bonus lesson will be open only to students who have completed all the course requirements and become certified and registered. In this lesson, I’ll coach you on how to deliver your elevator pitch and promote yourself as a coach for expectant couples. You will also get some more practical tools and strategies.
